FROM ROCKIT:
How did that legendary catchphrase, “Se mi rilasso, collasso” come about?
The phrase was uttered by a very dear friend of ours who, after one of our early concerts, stumbled exhausted into the dressing rooms and, dripping with sweat, greeted us with a heartfelt: “Guys… if I relax, I collapse.”
Enrico’s radar immediately picked up on that line, and it eventually became our motto — a kind of battle cry.
FROM ROCKOL:
We are going to celebrate this record, which was incredibly important for us — it marked the turning point for Bandabardò. It was 2001: our contract with the major label had ended and we became independent, back when the word independent had a very different meaning from today. Independent meant self-producing. Together with our management, we said, “Let’s do it ourselves,” at a time when everyone was signing with major labels.
We made this record — a live album recorded in three venues: the Brancaleone in Rome, the Mamamia in Senigallia, and then the beloved Leoncavallo in Milan. This live album came out featuring the previously unreleased track “Manifesto,” which later became — pardon the pun — the manifesto of Bandabardò. To the great scandal of the music industry, we stormed into the Top Ten at a time when records were actually selling. It was a commercial success and, above all, a thermometer that helped us understand that something special was happening around Bandabardò — it was becoming an interesting phenomenon.
FROM CORRIERE DELLA SERA:
This year’s tour is not just about nostalgia: “Coming to one of our concerts is interesting for young people too. As we saw last year, at the shows for our latest album ‘Fandango’ many young fans came to see us — maybe because they were the children or grandchildren of people who already knew us — but then they would line up to thank us and say hello.
We are part of a generation that played hundreds of free concerts to help make the people’s voice heard. In September we were happy to see Italy back on the streets for Gaza; it’s a sign that determination has returned.”
